BlockFi Data Breach

BlockFi has sent out an e-mail to account holders informing them of a data breach that occurred on May 14th, 2020 for about an hour.

• The following information was accessible: Name, Email Address, Date of Birth, Postal Address, Activity History.
• The following information was not accessible: Social Security Number, Tax Identification Numbers, Passports, Licenses, Passwords, Bank Account Information, Account Preferences, Photos uploaded for identification purposes

Many readers may have a BlockFI account due to a recent promotion. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, until the penalties for data breaches are increased we will continue to see them happen at an alarming rate.
