Our Verdict
SOFID is a stable coin that is 1:1 to USD. I think the risk of SoFi disappearing with your crypto is low but as the saying goes not your wallet not your coins so the risk isn’t 0% and there is no government or other insurance for these assets. It’s relatively rare to see a bonus this generous for existing customers and I do think it’s worth doing if you already hold crypto. If you don’t hold crypto then USDC does qualify for this and is another stable coin so could be worth it if you don’t mind the risk and holding period.

I pulled the trigger on this a few days ago. I am trying to stack with Rakuten so started from their link. I logged in to Rakuten after getting redirected and this 1K offer was first screen that I saw, so that bodes well for the stack. A few points that may be of interest. 1) I bought a little over 1k of USDC on OKX on 10/5. Today I tried to do a transfer to Sofi. Looks like OKX has placed a hold until 13th on that purchase so cannot be transferred. Luckily, I have 1 day cushion. If you are contemplating this might give yourself some extra buffer (or don’t use OKX). 2) Despite having SOFI bank accounts since ~2022 and a brokerage account also, I had to upload ID photo and do the selfie thing in order to initiate a transfer. The biometric stuff is somewhat annoying but guess it is ultimately for security. good luck.
I sent 1000 from Coinbase to Sofi via Base network, is it possible to recovery it?
Same
can you sign up for a new account via Rakuten and then use the SoFi link to make the $1000 deposit?
When you click through it doesn’t take you to this landing page so not sure it’ll stack?
divide?.. or multiply by the reciprocal? how does one skin this cat?
think
Existing users can just click the link (Direct offer link in post)? Signed up, but no banner, targeted email etc.
Don’t see this in account anyway, do you just automatically qualify when you transfer? Would appreciate any DPs
Chuck William Charles how’s this get approved?
The promotional terms are clear that the only accepted coins are: AAVE, BONK, BTC, ETH, FLOKI, LDO, LINK, LTC, POL, SHIB, SOL, SOFID, UNI, USDC, XLM, and XRP
How do you stack them? Thanks.
From the FAQ: ● Market Value Changes SoFi Crypto Member transfers $1,000 or more in supported digital assets during the Transfer Window. Market drops portfolio value to $800. No withdrawals made and digital assets held on platform through October 14, 2027. Member Eligible to receive $300 Bonus credited in SOFIUSD
It’s a 30% APY equivalent!
Not always. Centralized exchanges may implement their own transfer fees where the cost is more fixed or at least better known. But the transaction travels on a decentralized blockchain where the transaction is confirmed in a distributed fashion. The participants in that blockchain have to be paid for their trouble. Fees can increase when load is high. But at this very second, it seems like Ethereum load is low.
I plan on transfering from Kraken to Sofi. I don’t have much experience with trading/transfering crypto, but isn’t it just a flat fee per transfer (~0.84 USDC) for Kraken?
You should look at their 5 year holds for 1% match into an Invest account.
Its based on the amount when it is transferred to SoFi.
Gettoutahere witcha one years holds 🤌🤌
From the FAQ: You must not voluntarily withdraw the $1000 principal of transferred crypto assets during the required holding period ending on October 14, 2027. Any voluntary withdrawal of principal during this period will result in forfeiture of the $300 SOFID bonus. It seems like “principal” in the second sentence refers back to the $1000 principal in the first sentence.
What happens if you transfer 1000 USD of crypto, but due to market volatility the value is now 500 USD? Would it mean they won’t pay out?
Sofi only accepts USDC transfers via the Ethereum network. The gas fees on that is going to be pricey.
Heads up — if you are thinking of stacking this with the $50 referral bonus, stablecoins do NOT stack per https://www.sofi.com/referral-program/ : A qualifying crypto purchase means a successful SoFi Crypto purchase transaction to buy Supported Digital Assets: (i) cryptocurrencies. Stablecoin purchases are EXCLUDED .
