The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • Ally Bank offers on their Ally Invest customers a bonus match on Self Directed IRA contributions:
    • Open your IRA. Open your first Ally Invest Self-Directed IRA between 3/31/2026 and 7/31/2026 and fund it by 12/31/2026 to earn your match. Both Traditional and Roth IRAs are eligible for a 3.5% contribution match.

    • Make a contribution. Fund your IRA up to the annual maximum. You can make eligible 2026 contributions up until 12/31/2026. Limits for 2026 are $7,500 for individuals aged 49 or younger, and $8,600 for those 50 and up.
    • Earn your bonus. Your match will post within 90 days of your contribution’s settlement date. Matches appear as ‘interest income’ and don’t count toward your annual contribution limit.
There’s a 24-month holding period for eligible contributions and earned matches in your IRA.

Our Verdict

This started with Robinhood and then WeBull who offer similar matches for their paid premium subscribers. This Ally Invest offer is interesting since it has no subscription cost and it has a lower 24-month holding period. (It’s been noted that this Ally offer won’t work for those who do backdoor Roth.)

We don’t know if they plan on running this promo each year or it’s a one-time thing. I’d consider using them long-term if it becomes an annual recurring offer.

We’ll add this to our list of Best Brokerage Bonuses. There’s also a separate Ally Invest bonus for a regular brokerage account.
