Chase Freedom Unlimited 3x Everywhere for the First Year Signup Bonus, up to $20,000 in Purchases [Currently In-Branch Only]

As rumored, the Chase Freedom Unlimited now has a signup bonus of 3x points on all purchases the first year, up to $20,000 in spend. They ran a similar offer last year, but without the $20,000 cap. Given the cap, it’s essentially as if there were a 30,000 points bonus on $20,000 spend – after spending $20,000 you’ll get 60,000 points, half from ordinary earn and half from signup bonus. Makes sense for someone who anyway wants to use the card as their daily driver.

As rumored, the Chase Freedom Unlimited now has a signup bonus of 3x points on all purchases the first year. This replaces the $150 bonus offer. This offer is currently only available in branch, I expect it’ll be an online offer soon.

The Offer

  • Signup for the Chase Freedom Unlimited and get 3x points everywhere for the entire first cardmember year, up to $20,000 in purchases earns the higher rate.

Card Basics

  • No annual fee
  • Regular rewards rate after first year is 1.5% back
  • Card earns cash back, but if you have a premium Chase card like the Sapphire Reserve/Preferred, the cash works like Ultimate Rewards points
  • 0% Introductory APR for 15 months on purchases and balance transfers (5% balance transfer fee)

Our Verdict

They ran a similar offer last year, but without the $20,000 cap. Given the cap, it’s essentially as if there were a 30,000 points bonus on $20,000 spend – after spending $20,000 you’ll get 60,000 points, half from ordinary earn and half from signup bonus. Makes sense for someone who anyway wants to use the card as their daily driver.

Remember, most of us are not eligible for the card due to the 5/24 rule. Check out also these Things Everybody Should Know About Chase Credit Cards before applying.
