• SouthEast Bank is offering a bonus of $250 when you open a new checking account and complete the following requirements:
  • Make deposit(s) totaling at least $4,000 in new money within thirty (30) days of account opening and maintain a positive daily balance through the 60th day following account opening
  • At least once within 60 days of account opening, meet the requirements to earn 3.55% APY on balances up to $20,000 with Bonus Rate Checking⁽²⁾ including enrolling in eStatements and posting and settling at least 15 debit card purchases of $1 or more within a statement cycle
  • Primary address must be in Tennessee

The Fine Print

• This promotion begins on June 22, 2022, and the new account must be opened by August 31, 2022, to receive the $100 bonus.
• The minimum deposit required to open a qualifying checking account and receive this bonus is $50.
• The account holder must make 5 SouthEast Bank debit card transactions of $1 or more within 30 days of account opening and the account must remain open and in good standing within 90 days of funding in order to receive the bonus.
• The bonus will be credited to the account within five (5) business days of meeting all qualifications. Bonus only available to new SouthEast Bank customers
• All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Bonus Rate Checking has no monthly fee as long as you don’t receive paper statements.

Early Account Termination Fee

I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so I’m unsure if there is an early account termination fee.

Our Verdict

Unfortunately this bank is ChexSystems sensitive. There was also a $150 checking bonus in the past with similar requirements (e.g no direct deposit requirement).
