The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Keybank is offering a $1,000 bonus when you open a new business checking account in branch and complete the following requirements:
    • Schedule an appointment with a banker to open your Key Business Reward Checking® account by July 24, 2026.
    • Make the $25 minimum opening deposit and a total of $25,000 or more within 30 days. Maintain a minimum daily balance of $25,000 or more for the first 90 days.
    • Your bonus will be deposited into your account within 60 days of meeting the requirements.

The Fine Print

  • To qualify for the $1,000 Key Business Reward® Checking offer:
    • 1. Open a new Key Business Reward Checking® account between 7/24/2026.
    • 2. Make a total of $25,000 or more in deposits into your new qualifying checking account within 30 days of account opening.
    • 3. Maintain an end-of-day balance of at least $25,000 from the date you first reach this balance in the new checking account for at least 90 consecutive days. If the day you first reach the $25,000 balance falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the 90-day maintenance period will begin on the next business day. If the final day of the 90-day maintenance period falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the previous business day’s end-of-day balance will be used to determine eligibility.  If your new checking account balance falls below $25,000 at any time within the 90-day Balance Maintenance period, you will no longer qualify for the promotion.

  • Your bonus will be deposited into your new Key Business Reward Checking® account within 60 days of meeting all requirements. The $1,000 bonus account-opening offer will be reported on Form 1099-INT. Account must not be closed at the time of bonus payment. Offer is only available if the business entity (SSN/EIN) has not had a KeyBank business checking or KeyBank business savings account during the past 12 months. The minimum opening deposit for a Key Business Reward Checking® account is $25. Limit one account-opening offer per qualifying account. Limit one account-opening offer per business entity (SSN/EIN). Restricted collateral accounts opened by KeyBank are not eligible for this offer. This account-opening offer is subject to cancellation without notice. Valid Social Security Number or Employer Identification Number and U.S. address required to qualify for offer. Employees of KeyBank, its affiliates and subsidiaries are not eligible for this offer.
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Avoiding Fees

Monthly Fees

Rewards checking has a $25 monthly fee, waived the first two months. Beginning in the third month, the monthly Maintenance Service of $25 for the Business Rewards Checking account can be avoided if any of the following balance requirements are met during the monthly statement period as follows:

  • The Average Ledger Balance in your Key Business Reward Checking account was $7,500.00 or more during the monthly statement period; or
  • The total of the following was $20,000.00 or more: 1) the combined cycle-to-date Average Ledger Balance in any combination of business checking (excluding certain business accounts opened for the benefit of others), business savings, and business certificates of deposit accounts within two business days prior to your Key Business Reward Checking account statement cycle date; and/or 2) the outstanding balance of all commercial loans and lines of credit including your Business Cash Reserve credit account(s) (excluding balances past due 60 days or more) as of no more than five business days prior to your Key Business Reward Checking account statement cycle date; or
  • Subscribe to Key Merchant Services.

Early Account Termination Fee

Looks to be $0 now.

Our Verdict

Previously Keybank offered a $500 bonus that only required $5,000 in funds and was easier to keep fee free but that promotion is targeted now. If you put the $25,000 into a 5% earning account for 90 days you’d earn ~$310, you’d then either have to pay the $25 monthly for 60 days (twice) or keep the $7,500 in the account to keep it fee free. Still worth doing but a bit annoying. We will add this to our list of the best business checking bonuses.

Newest-first by default, because “is it still working?” matters most.

Pablo Monty I have not had any success attempting opening a personal account online with Chex frozen. I’ll try again this week, but it looks like I might have to go back to the branch to open it.

Yet another example of Keycorp’s stubborn insistence on not being dragged into 21st century banking.

Afaik there is no online application for business checking accounts unless im missing something staring at my face. I would have been willing to try since the branches are not near me.

Ended up getting the $500 bonus last October. Closed my account this Feb, hoping they extend the offer till then. Would love to the $1000 but have to wait 12mo from closure.

Same data point as you, received a letter confirming bonus.

7/23: Opened account in branch. Rep was aware of the offer and confirmed my account was eligible. 7/23: Received a mailer confirming my account was enrolled in the offer, along with T&C. The letter says “If you have any questions…, please contact us and reference your offer code: BDMB0426 ” Idk if that’s the offer code you could use for online application. Seems risky tho.

I opened for sole prop with my SSN. No additional docs needed other than my DL. I used to have a personal checking account with them, which was closed several months ago.

I went in and they ask for proof of activity in the state. They pointed me to dor.gov to create a business license for your sole proprietorship. Cost $55

I opened for an LLC. They wanted articles of organization, EIN letter and ID. Not aware if you can open with a DBA.

Did you have to bring in any documents like a DBA?

FR

Since this is an in-branch offer, is their a need to bring in any documentation for the business? Since I’m a sole proprietor, what would I have to bring in?

Good to hear at least someone else is in my position. The banker thought explicitly the same (date as a trigger – no need for a code.)

BO

Same here. Opened the account in branch today too. Rep seemed quite familiar with the offer and said there’s no promo code, and all Rewards Biz Checking acct opened during promo period would be eligible automatically. AFAIK, many banks don’t require explicit promo code for bonus. My past KeyBank churns have been pretty smooth, so I’ll give them the trust.

BO
BonusBlocker#2365882

No promo code on link but opened in branch 7/13/2026. They couldn’t find any promo code/way to apply the offer. Thoughts?

Dan Did this last year OOS in a branch in Colorado when it was $500. No issues whatsoever. However, my sole prop has a city business license and is registered with the state.

I know keybank is stingy when it is time to pay, they really take time. Some of the banks such as USB, Citi, WF, PNC are quick with the payment.
