The Offer
- Open an Ally brokerage Self-Directed Trading account and get a $200 bonus when you transfer at least $1,000 into the account:
- Open an eligible new Self-Directed Trading account by selecting Open Account on this page by 12/31/26.
- Transfer in a minimum of $1,000 into the new account within 60 days of opening it. (FYI: It’s OK to do so over multiple transfers.)
- That’s it — keep your account open and in good standing to receive your $200 bonus.
- You can also get a $75 ACAT fee reimbursement if you deposit $2,500+ via ACATS

The Fine Print
- Valid from 8/7/25 through 10/15/25.
- New customers to Ally Invest (who do not currently have, nor previously had, an account with Ally Invest) can get a cash bonus of $200 for opening an eligible Ally Invest Self-Directed Trading account or Robo Portfolio account and meeting the below criteria.
- Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), trust accounts, and Personal Advice accounts are not eligible.
- Transfer a minimum of $1,000 in cash and/or securities within 60 days of account opening. You can make multiple transfers to reach the minimum requirement of $1,000.
- Keep your account open and in good standing under the AIS Customer agreement until we add the bonus to your account. We’ll pay your bonus within 30 days of your account reaching $1,000.
- Note: Market activity that causes your portfolio value to rise above $1,000 will not qualify; also note that instances of market volatility causing your portfolio to drop below $1,000 will not disqualify you.
- Bank and investment bonuses are taxable and typically get reported by the bank on a Form 1099.
Our Verdict
Seems like an easy $200 bonus with $1,000 tied up for 30 90 days days. The bonus should post within 30 days and then you’re free to transfer out the funds and the bonus, if you’d like. This is from the most simple bonuses from a bank/brokerage that we’ve seen.
This bonus should work whether you transfer over investments via ACATS or whether you simply deposit $1,000 in cash into your Ally Invest account. You can let the $1,000 sit there or you buy up an investment or buy SGOV or whatever you’d like. Nice chance to try out Ally self-directed investment account.
Note again, this bonus is only for those who never had an Ally Invest account before. Many of us, myself included, have been targeted for various signup offers in the past and may have opened an account before.

This finally paid out for me, opened on in early may but transfered in 1001 on 5/22 . Never saw tracking or anything for the bonus so I thought Ally was not going to pay out but got an email an confirmed its in cash balance today (10/2) .

The ACATS reimbursement form can be found in the mobile app by going Menu tab > Documents section > Forms Select “Investments” from the Category dropdown And find “Brokerage Account Transfer Reimbursement” at the bottom, under Transfers. Took me like 15 minutes to find so hope this helps someone.
OK, this was probably caused by my address with Ally not having the apartment number, but the address with Schwab (which I am ACATing out of) having it. They said the fraud team will take care of it in 1-2 biz days. Annoying but whatever, at least I didn’t have to wait on hold.

Account Opened: May 7 Deposit: $1,000 deposited by May 28th (allocated to AMZN shares) Promotional Bonus: $200 bonus posted on August 20th Transfer Plan: Initiate full ACATS transfer from Fidelity. Ally charges a $50 transfer fee, leaving a net gain of $150 initially. Once the transfer settles, request an ACATS fee reimbursement from Fidelity to recover the remaining $50 (bringing the full bonus realized to $200).
Did you fund with money that’s already at Ally? If yes, the bonus is $100.
WF – thanks! I don’t quite follow the Robo Adviser promo. Are there any fees? Can we invest the money ourselves? What is this 0.3% advisory fee. My problem is that my bonus was paid out 4 years ago, but I never bothered to close the account until they auto closed it sometime this year. No email, no notification. I just logged into my account and saw the account with closed status. Anyway, if Ally count churn based on the last close date, then I might not be eligible. But if they count on the bonus payout date, it was a long time ago. I was thinking of doing the $1,000 offer for 90 days.

Ally invest $200 bonus hit today. I did the self-directed investment account, $1001.00. I had an existing checking. I did not invest anything, just let the money sit there. Tracker was accurate give a few days. Got email subject line, “Your bonus is in!
WF – thanks! Well, I got a bonus for Ally Invest in 2022, 4 years ago. The bonus was awarded May 2022. I zeroed out the accout in the same month in May 2022. I did not have any activity at all, and they recently closed the Invest account (likely this year). It was auto-closed. Do you think it is worthwhile trying again given that my last bonus was 4 years ago, but the account auto-closed this year.
Doesn’t seem like it. I got last summer’s Invest bonus on 9/9/25. Opened this one on 5/4/25, did $50 automated transfers (for the robo bonus) in early May, June, and July, and the bonus wasn’t tracked or received. (Per this dp , I should have received it by late July.) Oh well. Perhaps if I had waited a full year since the last bonus it might have turned out differently. On to the next!
I made a comment just below yours, about not getting bonus. Realized later that as you said it’s 90 days after meeting the balance requirement. The ACAT took longer than some transfers others posted about so they got to 90 days post-$1000 before me, so hopefully that explains why they got a bonus and I (and you) haven’t. Hopefully soon.
It is easy to open an account, but the uncertainty lies in whether you, as someone without any active Ally bank accounts , will be able to receive the bonus. Please report back on this if you do not try the open-a-savings/checking-later remedy . Thanks.
No bonus yet for a May 7th opening. Some observations. Someone below had mentioned 3 deposits but in terms it just mentions $1000 or more. So I met that with 2 transfers. But in terms it says 90 day payout after meeting the $1000 threshold. So mine was met on May 12th. This might explain the delay in payouts. Still hoping soon…..

The language is pretty clear: “Are former or current Ally Invest customers eligible for this offer? This offer is only available to current active Ally Bank and Ally Auto customers who do not have, nor previously had, an account with Ally Invest . “
I added $1001 and checked the app and I have it also. Mine says, “Opened Self-Directed Trading Account 5/9/2026” and just above that it says, “Complete by 8/10/26” So I’m assuming that they will give me the $200 after 08/10/26 90-day hold period. This seems like a very easy and worthwhile bonus.
Is this bonus churnable at all? Seems like there are mixed reports of people having had invest accounts in the past and getting the bonus and some not.
