Update 8/11/26: Compensation has now been sent out.
Update 8/4/26: BILT is sending affect users 2,500 points. Full e-mail as follows:
Hi [Name],
We were notified that a small number of individuals with a beta Bilt Mastercard issued prior to the launch of the Wells Fargo card in March 2022 were incorrectly reported to the credit bureau, Transunion, for a delinquent balance from a third-party card servicer, Tate Kirlin on Friday, July 31st.
After discovering the issue, we promptly contacted Tate Kirlin to resolve it. As of Monday, August 3rd, all impacted accounts have been corrected. No action is needed from you. These updates should reflect on your credit report within 3 business days.
Please note if you are using a third party personal finance app, those apps often refresh monthly and as such these updates may not be reflected on those platforms for up to 30 days or according to their refresh schedules; however, your information will be updated with Transunion within 3 business days and you may obtain a copy of your free credit report directly from Transunion that will display the corrected information after August 6th.
We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and will deposit 2,500 Bilt Points in your account for your patience. If you have any questions, or if this temporary information mismatch needs to be addressed with another institution (e.g., if you attempted to apply for new credit between July 31st and August 6th), please reply directly to this email; we’re happy to work with you and the other institution to help however we can.
Thanks,
The Bilt Team
Fine enough compensation if it didn’t really negative impact you but if it resulted in denied applications or other hardships 2,500 points doesn’t move the needle.
Original post 8/1/26: Some reddit users are reporting that they have received a collections notice from Tate & Kirlin saying that BILT is taking adverse action against them due to unpaid debt. A BILT spokesperson has acknowledged the issue and provided the following statement:
We are aware of a small number of customers receiving unexpected collections notices and/or credit reports related to their beta Bilt card. We are in touch with the agency responsible and any erroneous credit reporting will be deleted immediately.
A second statement was issued stating:
Credit bureaus have been notified and your report will update within 2-5 business days due to credit bureau updating schedules
The issue seems to be affecting Evolve Bank cardholders (beta or pre 1.0) and not Wells Fargo (BILT 1.0) or Cardless (BILT 2.o) cardholders. Evolve Bank cards were all issued before March, 2022. To say this is a significant issue is underselling it, one reddit user reports they were in the midst of the approval process for a house purchase before their credit score suddenly dropped 60 points. If you are affected I’d strongly recommend keeping track of any damages you’ve incurred as a result of this issue.

What? I can still be amused by how many dramas Bilt create? Best choice ever to close my Bilt before the transition.
Have you bought a house with a mortgage? ALL MORTGAGE LENDERS pull the three major credit bureaus.
Well, compare this to the Citi fiasco last year where they waived the AF on Strata Elites as a result. That was certainly more generous than $40 worth of points, and their fuckup was less impactful. *shrug*
Maybe that’s why the payouts are so trivial at the moment because Bilt understands that there will be big fat payouts once a class action is filed
2,500 points. What an insane joke.
now give us a good transfer bonus for september…
Evolve cards don’t need to be hanging around. Almost all of the people impacted had closed their Evolve cards.
You generally have to prove damages, not just that you were affected.
I hate my Palladium card. Nothing but issues. I cannot wait to get rid of this disaster card. My old Bilt card had no issues with my rent.
I wouldn’t count on it. Do you remember in April 2024 when Bilt erroneously sent out mass emails that accounts will be shut down because of “loyalty program misconduct”? They gave people 250 courtesy points then by way of apology. Lame.
But how would calculate how much?
I wonder if users who are adversely impacted like this, for example having their house purchase disrupted would get decent damages if they sue
Every day I see Bilt dealing with issues since around 2021, when my friend was so stressed about it, lol. I’m just glad I never opened their account.
If someone is affected this and is reading this… If I were in your position I would apply for a credit card and “hopefully” get denied for having an account sent to collections (meaning this is what they say on the denial letter). That way you can show the class-action suit you were “adversely affected” by Bilt when this likely ends up in court. Kind of stupid advice but class actions always get capped at a certain amount if you’re in the affected party.. Unless you show actual proof that you were more negatively affected!
more reason to never touch any one of their cards if the problems aren’t unique to the newer ones
This is going to be a very interesting class-action.
As I have said thousands of times with these guys – you’ve got to be prepared to deal with their incompetence to get the rewards. If your choice of reward ecosystems are a good fit, and you’re willing to complain loudly when things go wrong (and I happily do on Reddit) – it can be a very good deal and they are usually prompt to fix whatever is wrong. They did this with the erroneous forex fees, mortgage payment issues early on, balance transfer problems, and the incorrect interest charges. Interestingly, most of these issues are on their banking partners – Evolve, Cardless, and to a lesser extent, Wells. The only issue I ever had with their own stack was a mortgage payment that took about a week to post. Otherwise it’s mostly issues with Cardless. This one is probably their worst though. I hope someone holds them (and Evolve) accountable. The funny thing is that they’re likely going to be coming out with a banking product soon… you wanna trust these guys to manage your checking account? I think I trust Green Dot more than I do Bilt with keeping an accurate banking ledger.
