Chase announced some positive changes coming to the Sapphire Preferred card on June 15, 2026:

  1. $95 annual fee remains the same.
  2. The $50 Hotel credit via Chase Travel is increasing to $100.
  3. Card will earn 3x on Gas/EV and on Airbnb, VRBO, Plum Guide, HomeAway, Homestay.com, and Vacasa. (This is in addition to the 5x on travel booked through the Chase Travel portal, 3x on Dining/Streaming Services/online grocery, 2x on travel.)
  4. New $120 credit once every four years for Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS.
  5. One time offer (not ongoing): Complimentary Apple TV subscription for one year when activated by December 31, 2026.
  6. Enhanced protection: Travel protections are expanded to now include Emergency Evacuation and Transportation coverage.

The news comes along with two negative changes:

  1. Hyatt is no longer a 1:1 transfer, we discussed this in a dedicated post.
  2. The 10% Anniversary Bonus is ending, we discussed this in a dedicated post.

Our Verdict

Ignoring the negative changes for a moment, there are some nice enhancements here. 3x on Gas is nice and the increased $100 hotel credit can help offset the annual fee (can potentially use to get one night free stay, for example).

Newest-first by default, because “is it still working?” matters most.

Anyone recently PC’d Reserve to Preferred and get the Apple subscription on the new card?

Saw on another site that someone PC’d to a Freedom and it stopped the Apple subscription the next day.

I wonder if you only received it back to the hotel credit tracker because someone else above said it went to general travel.

tjm From desktop AppleTV, go to your Account Settings by clicking your round user icon towards the top-right, scroll down to Subscriptions > Manage, and you should see “Apple TV included with your Chase plan”.

That’s odd, I used Safari #comment-2351553 and I could immediately see it. Open AppleTV using the app. Go to Account > Account Settings > Subscriptions > “Apple TV included with your Chase plan” will show up in the appleID its activate on.

Being my own DP: Yes for both. For AppleTV, need to use a desktop browser. Main account holder signed in to Chase to activate the AppleTV benefit, then when it tries to open Apple, the authorized user signed in with their Apple account. The offer was automatically applied. For the TSA Pre-Check/Global Entry/Nexus benefit: terms state the main account holder or authorized user can purchase it and receive the benefit.

Where did you see the ability to activate it?

TJ

I activated apple tv offer on chase sapphire from desktop on chrome planning to activate it on my spouse apple id, but the screen it did not ask for any apple id and just said activated. I have no clue what apple id it activated the subscription on, if at all. I have two other apple ids I’ve used over the years but none of them are showing any active subscription, including my spouse’s iphone. How can I check which apple id the offer was activated on?

You don’t need to be selfish but stop the spoonfeeding. You can try to be a bit subtle when helping people with such loopholes. Obviously that was not your specific comment but it is comments like these. And I remembered your comment because I replied to it back then and week later, boom, loophole closed.

They offered a $50 a while before. Probably we still have it. I just booked for $110 on a 2 day stay and got the credit right there before paying (valid until tomorrow for me at least). The $100 is a statement credit if I’m not mistaken.

A) The comment above didn’t cause them to change this. It’s been around for years and this is certainly not the first time it’s been discussed online. B) It’s in the nature of the blog to share personal finance opportunities, strategies, gaps in bank system logic, etc. Why is this any different? Seems selfish to reap the benefits of this blog from all the information others were willing to share for the collective good but gatekeep opportunities yourself.

Way to say the quiet part out loud on a website that tracks these kinds of things. Politely speaking, most of us knew OR there were already pieces of info that led you into these results. It’s not singlehandedly one to blame but I hope you enjoyed your time doing it now that’s it pulled.

If you had to *apply* the credit, it was the $50 coupon from when Chase ended 1.5x and 1.25x value for UR. The $50 hotel credit is separate and applied *after* you pay posting as a separate credit against the charge

Good job noob on ruining this just because you just had to blab about this on the internet. This is why we can’t have nice things.

Congrats, asshole. Credit is dead!

DP: New credit year started 6/14. Showed $0/$100. Booked hotel for $300. Received credit of $50. I’m not sure if that means it’s twice a year or this was an error.

For the AppleTV subscription and TSA Pre-Check: can a CSP authorized user sign up for it and get the credit? Or must it be the main account holder? (Assuming both benefits are only allowed once/account.)

MichaelC#2348951

It works how it always has. A credit posted to the account after purchase. But unfortunately can confirm it was clawed back unlike in the past. And it’s just back to the hotel credit tracker; no “general travel credit”.

On Apple Apple TV subscription, it says you link your Apple ID when you redeem and to use desktop website if you want to use an alternate Apple ID. Any data points on using somebody else’s Apple TV credit that won’t use theirs at all? I noted the 12/31/26 deadline so I’d maybe use theirs now to have it for rest of 2026 and then use mine on 12/31/26 to get it for 2027 essentially.

Andy#2348337

I got a similar statement recently, but it said my annual cycle ended on 6/18. I booked a hotel stay on Chase Travel 6/17 and the jury is still out if I get the $50 credit as of the “previous” year. However, I can tell you now that Chase states the credit as of 0/100.

AN
Andy#2348332

Regarding the hotel credit change, I used the original $50 credit for this year. I saw Chase award me the extra $50 credit very recently, but apparently my annual cut-off is 6/18. I booked a hotel through Chase Travel on 6/17 and it hasn’t posted yet still. Am I not getting that $50 credit as of that “previous” year now?

My AF is going to hit in July. I wonder if the AppleTV free year sub will get canceled if I PC this next month.

ER
Eric#2345064

You should be able to apply for it if you don’t mind not getting the SUB. But yeah bonuses are only once per lifetime for them now.

TO

It’s once per lifetime now for bonuses

I used my $50 hotel credit in April, then had my card anniversary two weeks ago. Looking at the tracker now I’m back at 0/$100, full credit available up to next year’s anniversary date. Language on the benefit tracker page is “Earn up to $100 in statement credits each account anniversary year for hotel stays purchased through Chase Travel.”

DP Applied this morning. No popup . “We’re unable to approve your application.” closed it previously 3.9 years ago. SUB received 4.9 years ago. It seems there was not enough time in between.
