The Offer
New link | Direct link to offer | Another link for higher tiers
- Chase is offering a bonus on their You Invest investment product. This product offers free trades to some customers in addition to other benefits. The current sign up bonus is tiered and varies based on how much you fund the account with:
- Fund $5,000-$24,999 and get a bonus of $50
- Fund $25,000-$99,999 and get a bonus of $150
- Fund $100,000-$249,999 and get a bonus of $325 (the old link is better for this tier)
- Fund $250,00+ and get a bonus of $1,000
$700 $1,000 Fund $500,000+ and get a bonus of $1,200 $1,000Fund $2,000,000+ and get a bonus of $2,500
- Account must be funded within 45 days and maintain your new funds at 90 days from enrollment

The Fine Print
- Cash promotion is limited to one per customer and can only be applied to one new You Invest Trade account (Brokerage, Traditional IRA, or Roth IRA). To enroll in the up to $625 offer, you must open an account through this page.
- Customers must open and fund a new You Invest Trade account with new money of $25,000 or more in cash or securities from a non-Chase or non-J.P. Morgan account and cannot be funds or securities held by Chase or its affiliates. New money must be transferred within 45 days of account opening.
- At day 45, the bonus tier will be determined
- Cash bonus will be credited to the account within 10 business days of these requirements being met.
You can participate in only one You Invest, Chase Private Client Checking, or Sapphire Checking new money bonus in a 12 month period.- The new money balance must be maintained in the account for at least 90 days from the date of funding (losses due to trading or market fluctuation will not be taken into account).
Our Verdict
Previously only the lowest tier bonus has been offered. Keep in mind you can do this bonus and still do a Chase checking & Savings bonus as well, but doing this bonus prevents you from doing the Chase Private Client or Sapphire Checking bonus. If considering this bonus you have several options:
- You can just fund the account with $25,000-$250,000 and leave the funds in there without investing them for 90 days. For most people this won’t be worth doing.
- A better option would to put the funds into a money market fund such as VMMXX or VUSXX. These have been yielding 2%+ returns and are considered very safe, but they don’t have FDIC insurance like a traditional high yield savings account.
- You can invest funds as you normally would.
- Reader Ben points out that the Sapphire Banking offer does not allow IRA funds to count to the funding amount while this You Invest offer does allow that. So if you don’t have non-IRA funds to move over and thus can’t get the Sapphire bonus, this You Invest bonus can really be cost free by simply transferring over IRA funds (I’ve never actually transferred an IRA, personally, but I assume it’s not difficult). Another reader points out that there are often fees for transferring an IRA, check with your original institution and with Chase to find out if there are fees to transfer in or out.
We’ll add this to our List of Best Brokerage Bonuses.

Yes, I’ve done both in the same year before. Not exactly at the same time, but one or the other account was open while the other was doing new promotion.
Peter , How are you transferring the funds? ACAT? Try DTC instead; it is much more forgiving. Make sure that you upload the form on the message center or you will need it notarized otherwise.
Looks like private wealth that you can also self-direct has $2K for $250K. I did this two years ago. Personal checking and savings you can get $900
DP: Existing linked bank account (for like a decade), $25k tier.
why would you not invest in a money market fund? This account gives you access to institutional-class Vanguard money market funds with no minimums.
If you’re depositing cash, you’re doing brokerage bonuses wrong. The whole point is that you can transfer stocks/ETFs via ACATS. If you already own investments that don’t earn interest and have to be held somewhere anyway, moving them to a new brokerage for a bonus costs you essentially nothing. Obviously, if ETFs aren’t your thing, brokerage bonuses probably don’t make much sense.
Is it possible that my thinking is all wrong on this. Acct pays zero interest. Investing in stocks is very iffy as the market seems to be on a downward spiral. Plus no guarrantees. So where am I wrong? TIA If I deposited 100k, no interest for 90 days + the Rak bonus plus Chase = 475.00. that is guaranteed. But at 4% in LOBank or others, you get 1333.00 interest in 4 months plus a bonus of 300 at LOB. Correct or do I need to take math classes?
If you sign up for it with their email it is a LOWER bonus. And also it seems you cannot stack Rakuten offer. Is it possible to close existing account and then open a new account? Thanks.
Thanks for the DP. Did you close your previous account before opening this new account?
Same situation. My previous bonus was 2 years ago, but the account is still open. Do I need to close the existing account and then open the new account? Thanks.
I have a Self Directed account with zero balance. Previously got a bonus on it 2 years ago. Can I close the previous account and open a new account and get this bonus? Is there a restriction in terms of closing the previous Invest account? Thanks.
This is what the terms and conditions say under the bonus tracker : c) The new money balance must be maintained in the account at 90 days from the offer enrollment – (losses due to trading or market fluctuation will not be taken into account). but DOC says its must maintain 90 days from funding? any clarification or DP?
You do if you’re also selling donuts on the side. Lots of donuts. Insider tip (you didn’t hear it from me): The ones with sprinkles sell better.
Same here. My payment is set to AMEX.
I’ve gotten multiple bonuses, but I don’t know if that sentence was in the terms before. I would speculate that the “only to the first” limitation/wording is so that if someone opens more than one at one time (for example, a taxable account and a Roth IRA), the bonus is associated with the first one. Meanwhile if it’s been more than 12 months then this is reset. I would guess that’s what’s being described here but I don’t know for sure. I see your later comment that you opened the account and see a tracker, so please update if/when you get the bonus after meeting the timing requirements!
Any help will be greatly appreciated: I already had one J.P. Morgan Self-Directed Investing account and would like to open a new one. I see conflicting language in their T&C: OFFER ELIGIBILITY AND RESTRICTIONS: Cash promotion is limited to one per customer, applicable only to the first J.P. Morgan Self-Directed Investing account opened by the primary account holder (General Investment, Traditional IRA or Roth IRA). To enroll in the up to $1,000 offer, you must open an account through this page. You can only participate in one J.P. Morgan Self-Directed Investing new money bonus in a 12-month period from the last bonus offer enrollment date . Offer is good for one time use and only one bonus per account. Is it really only for the very first account and not churnable? Not consistent with the comments I see below. Or the first sentence is recently added? Or I have a bad understanding here? A bit confused now and any clarification would be helpful.
Correction: The assignment fee is $9.95, not $9.99, and is billed per assignment event, not per contract. If all 72 puts were assigned at once, the assignment fee would be $9.95, not 72 x $9.95. So, the net cash profit in your pocket after assignment would be $4464 – $46.80 – $9.95 = $4407.25, not $3697.
Good information, but are you certain about the $9.99 per put assignment fee? I thought that it was $25 per transaction — which would make the net cash in your pocket higher by almost $700. https://www.wellsfargoadvisors.com/services/online/fees-expanded.htm ?
1) If you’re planning to deposit $250K in cash into self-directed brokerage account, consider selling puts on the SCHD ETF with 30 to 45 days to expiration and a strike that is ATM. SCHD last sold for $34.50 per share. E.g.: With $250K, you could sell 72 cash-secured puts expiring 9/25/26 with a strike of $34.50 at a premium of $62 per put = $4464, which you keep even if you’re assigned and have to buy 7200 shares of SCHD at $34.50 per share. Net cash profit after assignment: $4464 premium from selling 72 puts @ $62 each -47 fee for selling 72 puts @ 65 cents per put -720 assignment fee on 72 puts @ $9.99 per put ===== $3697 Net cash in your pocket On top of that, you own 7200 shares of SCHD, which pays dividends that are mostly qualified dividends. The currently annual dividend rate is $1.05 per share = $7560 on 7200 shares. 2) If you’re depositing $250K in shares, considering writing calls against your shares to earn call premium.
Sorry for the delayed reply Jules. So I received no correspondence from Chase after I sent the reply back, then miraculously, I received a “We completed your investment account transfer request.” on 8/3. It says it may take a few days to post. Oddly, the money shows in both Chase and Wells at the moment. I’m willing to venture that it was someone in the call center overseas replying to messages at odd hours of the night and you’re safe to go ahead.
Where you able to get this resolved? BTW where do you see bonus tracker? I remember that P1 saw it back in March/April but P2 can’t find it anywhere.
Did you end up figuring out why ACATS from Wells Fargo Advisor brokerage is taking so long, and how to fix that? Are you doing a partial transfer through online interface? I’m seeing comments mentioning difficulties in doing partial ACAT online — is that the case? I’m planning on doing this promotion but would really appreciate knowing your experience, because I also plan on transferring from my Wells Fargo Advisor brokerage account.
P2 applied and was approved online. Filled out the ACATS paperwork with a partial from WellsFargo brokerage (straight move of $250k SGOV). They received a reply back two days ago confirming the receipt of paperwork that the transfer can take up to 35 days. When they replied back asking WTF?!?!, the reply clarified that its actually up to 35 business days, not calendar days. Anyone run into this before? I’ve never heard of an ACATS taking a month.
Frustration: I met the requirements for the Chase brokerage bonus, and literally the day after tracker said I qualified I moved the money to Wells to qualify for that bonus too. Now Chase is telling me the bonus keeps failing to hit my account and they’re making one final attempt. What a mess.
Did you transfer into Chase from another brokerage? (if so, which one?) It’s possible that the problem was with the first brokerage. Also, at least in 2019, Chase You Invest defaulted to Average cost basis, and required sending them a letter to change it to Original Cost. (I don’t know if they still default to Average.)
I recommend staying away from them. I’m having a terrible experience with them messing up cost basis on transfer out. They’re trying to gaslight me by saying the cost basis was never correct when held with them and when I reply with evidence showing that they’re wrong, they just stop responding.
That’d work.
William Charles when I logged into Chase this morning there was a banner for existing accounts. The highest tier was lower at $200k for a $1k bonus.
I churned this last year and am looking to do it again this year. Enrollment last year was 9/6/25 and I withdrew the $250,000+ in March 2026. However, unlike Merrill and others who have a 24+ week lookback, I don’t see any anti-churning language other than the “Must be 12 months since last bonus enrollment”, so as long as I open the account after 9/6/26 I am pretty sure I can reuse the $250,000 that I withdrew in March 2026 for this offer. Anyone else see/experienced otherwise?
Extended until 10/21/2026. I’m seeing these tiers: Fund $5,000-$24,999 and get a bonus of $50Fund $25,000-$99,999 and get a bonus of $150Fund $100,000-$249,999 and get a bonus of $325Fund $250,000+ and get a bonus of $1,000 Happy that last one is higher than previously. William Charles
