Newest-first by default, because “is it still working?” matters most.

Nope. I always have to contact this bank and have it manually applied for some reason. About to reach out to them soon.

So according to a banker, my first statement did count and I met the qualifications already, which implies you need an opening deposit of $5,000. Whether or not the agent is correct, I don’t know. I’m going to leave the money for two full cycles at least regardless.

Maybe, maybe not. Seems pretty silly one of your cycles could be so short and that would actually count as one of the first two cycles.

I thought it was the first two FULL cycles. I guess I need to pay more attention.

i opened on 7/29 with only $100 opening deposit. I transferred 7k on 08/03. It seems my first statement was cut on 7/31 with an average balance of $100. I guess that means I’m not getting the bonus?

DP from Pennsylvania (so far): 2026/07/28: Applied and approved for Free Business Checking ($100 opening deposit) and Share Savings ($10 opening deposit). Opened as a sole proprietor. 2026/07/29: Scheduled a push of~$6047 from Varo Checking to the new SECU Business Checking account. Interestingly, both opening deposits and the Varo transfer posted at SECU on 2026/07/29. Despite not doing an opening deposit of $5k+, I’m hopeful that I’ll meet the terms of the bonus. Hoping to report back in a few months with positive news.

Did they require any sort of documentation to prove your sole proprietorship?

Applied and approved within 2 business days, Chex was pulled. Chex stats 1/1 5/3 13/6 20/12 29/24. I opened with a little over $5k. I tried to get clarifications on the terms but honestly the rep was so contradictory with what they were telling me that I feel no better informed. I would say an opening deposit of $5k is required. SP and within footprint.

According to the terms, the business needs to be located in-footprint, but appears to be no residency restriction for the biz owner. And, it is possible to set up an out-of-state LLC if you know what you’re doing.

Went ahead and applied. The promo code is the very last field on the last page, it should auto-fill if you access from the link. Intro deposit was $5,000. Wasn’t instantly approved. Actually, after I took a photo of my ID / face it told me on the application portal my application was denied. But then it let me submit. Chex stats are pretty high but I didn’t think SECU was chex sensitive. I recently closed a personal SECU account. Did not try to stack a referral. “Your application for SECU’s Free Business Checking, and Business Share Savings accounts has been placed into review with our team. You can expect to hear back within two business days.”

Must maintain an average daily balance of $5,000 for the first two monthly statement cycles So we have to deposit $5,000 immediately?
