Our Verdict
We saw similar bonuses to these $1k/$2k, but now they’ve added the $250/$500 travel credit which is nice bump. It’s possible these offers will show up via referral links as well – some people are seeing a massive referrer bonus from Capital One.
The Spark Card card does get reported to the credit bureaus while the Spark Cash Plus version does not get reported. Capital One pulls all 3 bureaus on applications. Check out these Things To Know about Capital One Credit Cards.

Does anyone know when the travel credits post to the account after hitting the spend? The first statement cut but there is no travel credit in the portal or when making a booking.
Denied. Got a targeted mail offer. Recent history:Had got a CapOne Venture 5 months ago. Would’ve been the first Business card with CapOne. I only applied since getting the mail offer, else I know how difficult CapOne is and just don’t apply there anymore. Reason for rejection:the owner of this legal entity type has too many credit card closures and recent inquiries given their business revenue. Wonder if it is worth it to call or mail in saying I have a big purchase coming up.
Is the $1000 posted as a cash or miles that can be transferred to partners?
Did you save the screenshot when you applied?
The travel credits expire 15 months after account opening
Tried to get Spark Cash. However, they pre-approved a Spark classic only
erased like Pegorino
JP they have strange metrics, not sure what based, as it’s all over the place, cards opened with them or closed with them for the past 12 months, and with other banks etc… seems they want very clean profile…
Matt cap one doesn’t have reconsideration department, the only thing they can do is re-submit application, with another hard pulls…. facepalm
escot if at the end of pre-approval you see 1% offer card and not other offers, they don’t want to approve you for better card, and want to start with this 1% “secure card”
Referral codes aren’t allowed in threads unless specifically noted. William Charles Chuck

With an LLC and that much legit biz revenue, you honestly might be able to find a C1 biz banker on like LinkedIn and work with that person. C1 biz bankers can get approvals where a general applicant can’t from what I’ve seen elsewhere.
My Spark Cash (received last week) was Mastercard. Was really hoping for a Visa.
You can sell it on ebay. Only a fool is giving you a free referral right now.
Same here, except I have no Capital One cards at all. (Happily they say they will take the risk of pre-approving me for a secured card.)
My pre-approval was similar to yours last year, and I went ahead and applied for the Spark 2% rather than the one I got pre-approved for, and ended up declined.
Last card (person or business) opened 15 months ago and was given the excuse “Time since most recent account opening is too short.”
Declined for the Spark 2% Cash with explanation The reason(s) for our decision are: • Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, there are too many active credit cards based on your loan history and legal entity revenue • Based on your application information, the owner of this legal entity type has too many credit card closures and recent inquiries given their business revenue. I already have 3 Capital One business credit cards. I have not been declined for a business card in a long time…
Got denied last night for this with the only bullet point on the emailed rejection notice being “Based on your application information, we are unable to approve this combination of business size and legal entity type.” Application was for a single member LLC with revenue of $350k. I’ve had at least a half dozen business credit cards over the 15 years this business has existed with no issues or denials in the past, but this is the first I’ve tried with Capital One. Has anyone seen this reason before or understand what un-approvable combination they are referring to? I tried calling their credit decision line and the reps were worthless, just repeating that they don’t have any additional information and suggesting I should talk to a licensed credit advisor.
Welcome to the club.
Hi, if you’re willing to go 50/50 on the referral for the spark cash plus, reach out to me! albertolarajr310@gmail.com
Any thoughts on how to interpret results from Capital One’s “pre-approval” screening tool? I’m an existing Cap1 customer, personal & biz, with exc. credit (afaik), and thought I’d try out this pre-approval option for this Spark 2% card. Alas, result was inconclusive. It oddly indicates I am pre-approved for the basic 1% card (not on promotion & not interested, the ole’ bait ‘n switch drill?) Any experience out there to know just what this misdirection means? Am left guessing that I might still be approved for the Spark 2% if I formally apply, or maybe not. Tried calling the application line, and that rep. was no help at all, bluntly saying she merely took the applications, and could not offer any advice (about anything). Annoyed, yet still wondering, as this indeed is a compelling promotion. Thoughts? Tips?
any idea or details on how long this will last / what date this offer goes through or when it expires?
Hey Elaz, I was planning on applying for the regular Venture biz card that needs 10k spend. If that card is available through your referral link I’d like to have the same arrangement as Tela
Correct, William Charles doesn’t allow referral links unless explicit nor asking for referrals.
Ya thanks for bringing this up.. I just emailed you the info. Anyone else interested and runs across this referral bonus is $2k .. happy to split it with anyone who needs a cap one business card… requires $30K spend in 3 months spark cash plus or venture card works from what I can tell. I totally forgot about it until Tela tagged me lol
Elaz Thanks
There is a pre approval tool. Mostly just based on the personal guarantors information.
