The Offer
- Proponent Federal Credit Union is offering a $150 referral bonus to both parties when the person signing up completes the following requirements:

- Open a Membership Savings and an additional Checking OR Savings account with a minimum direct deposit of $250 per month, OR a Share Certificate, OR loan product within 60 days of the membership open date
The Fine Print
- Any Member who refers Proponent to family member or co-worker and the referred opens a Membership Savings and an additional Checking OR Savings account with a minimum direct deposit of $250 per month, OR a Share Certificate, OR loan product within 60 days of the membership open date, the existing member (referrer) will receive $150.
- The new member will also receive $150.
- The referred person must not have an existing account with the Credit Union.
- A Membership Savings account with a $5.00 opening deposit is required.
- A $150 bonus will be deposited into the existing members (referrer) share account and $150 bonus will be deposited into the referred member share account 90 days from the referred membership open date if the above criteria are met and the accounts are in good standing. Membership Savings does not qualify as a deposit product for the bonus.
- The bonus is considered interest and will be reported on IRS form 1099-INT.
- Maximum of 5 successful referrals per referring member.

- Immediate family is defined as grandparents, parents, spouse, siblings, children, or grandchildren (including similar relations through adoption and by marriage).

If anyone has a referral they’re willing to share, I’d appreciate it!
Part of it is probably people in NJ not searching for them as much as other states
The list of other credit union eligibility options are in the DoC post. Or, you could try calling/visiting a branch? The eligibility option I mention above seems to be the catch-all to allow anyone to join, but they can still be selective by Chex, credit, or footprint. Not only that, they way the referral form reads, you need to be a family member or coworker to refer someone. That’s a pretty narrow description, and nobody has come forward with a referral anyway.
NJ must have worst state bank bonuses if you exclude smaller states
I’m in NJ and was wondering if there are any other ways to qualify for membership besides the Friends of the Nutley Public Library.
Possible OOS eligibility using membership at the Friends of the Nutley Public Library? Per the page at https://nutleypubliclibrary.org/friends-of-the-nutley-public-library/ , individual annual membership costs $10 for the Friends of the Nutley Public Library. However, I haven’t tried registering and joining over at https://friendsofnutleypl.membershiptoolkit.com/ . Will wait for OOS DP’s.
