My guess is this is NOT churnable? This offer is available to new and existing business members who do not currently have an HVCU business checking account. Existing members with a business checking account are not eligible for this promotion. Accounts are subject to approval. Limit one offer per business member. ? I guess I can go in and find out. I believe I did the $1500 bonus last time. So I suppose if not churnable maybe would be eligible for the Value Business Checking? The sucky part is it takes about 1.5 hours to open in branch (chatty cathy’s in there-LOL).
They have a federal charter again. Not changing the name back.
Has anyone tried to open it during traveling ( living in another state/OOS) ?

Nice bonus paid out! Opened in May 2025. (o:
I also recd the 1500 bonus. Deposited req. amt May12. Bonus today! Best bonus ever. Did small BP to NYSEG elec about 2.00 each.
Woo-hoo! Bonus posted today!
Hmmm, still no bonus posted. Opened in branch on 4/30/25. Account funded on 5/5/25 for the $7,500, and my 10 ACH were completed on 5/13/25. Balance was maintained for month of July, and terms stated payout within 30 days, so I expected 8/30 or so. Will give until 9/3 and then call the bank.
You are correct. I don’t know what I was thinking. Wrong bonus (too many active ones, LOL). I opened 4/30/25, so hopefully end of August. We shall see.
According to the payout schedule, your bonus should be paid in August. Confused…My case: opened in early April, so far nothing.
Opened in-branch on 4/30/25. ACH push from Amex Business Checking on 5/5/25 for the $7500. Then I did my 10 ACH transactions on 5/13/25 (pushing $1.00 from Amex Business checking into HVCU). Bonus paid on 6/28/25.
nyc resident, had opened my llc in upstate ny and moved it to nyc q4 2024 rather than paying more $ to incorporate in the city, so rented a car and tried my hand at this last month, i changed my biz incorporation by this point but brought in all my initial biz docs and ein letter in for appt to try my luck. was there 1.5 hrs total, banker was super nice, remembered to unfreeze chex but experian was still frozen and i was initially flagged. unfroze from the app and she had to get manager approval, which she did, but manager came in at the end and was super accusatory. “our back office will be running compliance checks, it will be really hard to initially fund the account, …” etc. account still opened, set up my online banking, etc. Remember to have them set up your online banking for you!!!! Had no probs funding account thru ACH push via Sequence, was finally sent debit card 3 weeks later, will update on if bonus is auto-paid in august
did not even try.
were you able to fund with CC in branch?
DPs: opened in branch today. Chex was pulled and the banker verified each account I opened during the past months.
As a datapoint, they need a business certificate even for a sole proprietor and in-person appointments only to open the account
what kind of proof they would need to show that you are volunterring in one of the county? I live near one of the county.
Noted. Thank you for the reply.
Definitely not. There has been discussion about this before because of the CC funding – they are very strict about eligibility and do check your proof.
This bank is garbage. Signed up last time and they changed the bonus and said there was no bonus when I signed up. Wasted time and have just left it empty now.
🙂
Any DPs of being able to open in-branch despite residing out-of-state? “ If you live, work, worship, volunteer, or attend school in Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, Schenectady, Sullivan, Ulster, or Westchester Counties, you are eligible to join the Hudson Valley Credit Union.”
In person only. Í have been a member with a personal checking account ($750.00 bonus 3 years ago). Good outfit. Use the acct daily. I’ll go for the bigger bonus at end of May. Still have a NY ,and county DBA certificate.
I mean, at least they aren’t calling it the IBM Poughkeepsie Employees Federal Credit Union…
There is no Hudson Valley “Federal” Credit Union. Hasn’t been since late 2019. I think it’s time to catch up? Since late 2019 the former HVFCU became the NYS chartered HVCU.
