The Fine Print
- Open a new Truist Simple Business Checking or Dynamic Business Checking account online or in a branch from March 1, 2022 through June 30, 2022. Within 30 days of opening the new business checking account, you must:
- Make cumulative Qualifying Deposits* of $1,500 or more into your new account.
Enrollment in the promotion is required at the time of account opening, using promo code SB22NEW2BIZ2, in order to be eligible for a promotion reward. - Please refer to the Account Opening and Enrollment section below for instructions.
- Qualifying Deposits for new business checking accounts exclude debit card credit transactions and NSF fee refunds. Deposits can be made on a one-time basis or cumulatively over the 30 days.
- The new business checking account must remain open and in good standing with a balance ≥$0.00 until the reward is processed in order to receive the reward. Reward forfeiture will occur if: (1) the business checking account is changed to an account type not included in this client offer, (2) the business checking account is closed prior to the reward being processed, or (3) the new business checking account has a negative available balance at the time of qualification validation. Truist reserves the right to deduct the reward amount from the business checking account at the time of closing if the new business checking account is closed by the client or Truist within 180 days after opening.
- You must be a new Truist business checking client. To be considered a new business checking client, the business cannot have an existing Truist business checking account with the same Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), including but not limited to an Employer Identification Number (EIN), prior to promotion start or have closed a business account within 180 days of the promotion start date (on or after September 2, 2021).

The qualifying checking account must be opened in a Truist branch in one of the above-listed states or online.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
Simple business checking account has no monthly fees to worry about.
Early Account Termination Fee
Account needs to be kept open for 180 days otherwise the bonus is forfeit. No longer any EATF.
Our Verdict
Truist is the new name for the merged BB&T and SunTrust bank. BB&T has offered a $300 bonus in the past and SunTrust has offered a $400 bonus in the past. Now that this bonus is $400, it’s definitely worth doing.

Last month, I applied online for a Truist personal account(second churning). After my application was approved, I attempted to link my Fidelity account via micro-deposits the following day. On the third day, my Truist account was closed, and I received a letter stating that the reason was fraud and suspicious activity. I called and was told that was the final decision. Today, I went to a branch to apply for a business account. The banker told me that because of the fraud issue, Truist has decided to permanently stop doing business with me.
Trying to open an account for P2 but it keeps prompting me to log in halfway through the application since she is an existing user, the only issue is her personal acc has already been closed, so her login doesn’t work anymore. Anyone ran into the same issue? She won’t call in on the phone so that won’t be an option lol
Cash means physical currency.
Still no go….. The 3rd rep still insisted any business in TX requires Certificate of Formation… I pushed it and said my friend has sole prop without any biz doc with them. They just told me it’s recent policy change or some BS.
Got it. I’ll try requesting another phone appt to find another rep
Yeah, that’s unlucky. I had the same experience once when I tried to open in branch, but it was just a uniformed banker. I’ve opened via phone appointment for sole prop in TX for two churns.
You know what. I actually scheduled phone appt first before going for branch route. The rep during phone call said the same thing. The rep wants the serial number from the Certificate of Formation. Am I just unlucky?
personal account has a tracker in online banking and mobile app. business does not?
When I was brand new at this i got something in the mail from their fraus department telling me my account was closed with no reason given and no phone number to call. I read on here or on reddit to call the branch manager and that worked. It was an issue of id.
Why not just get an EIN? It’s instant and free.
Thank you!
No i didnt have this problem last year.
So I’m doing the personal offer at the same time so my personal account has some balance. If I open the business account, and then withdrawal later from the personal, that won’t cause issues for the business bonus right? Like, it doesn’t take a snapshot of my total Truist account balance or anything when I open the business account?
Tried to apply online but it’s saying “You’re already a Truist client” and asking me to login to proceed with the application. But I currently don’t have any personal or business accounts with truist. Anything I can do to bypass it and open an account as new user?
Any luck on your end? P2 just opened a personal account last night, and had to call in to setup online banking Today. Getting the same error where it pops up the login prompt saying you’re an existing customer (P2 has had 2 biz accs in past). I try to log in with the current login for the personal acc, and it just says invalid user/pass (even though it works fine for logging into the app). I even tried the 2 previous login’s from past biz acc’s, but get the same invalid user/pass screen. I’ve made sure all details were exactly the same
Should I wait until i get my personal checking bonus before applying to business bonus since i will using sole prop ssn. thanks
OOS, tried opening via phone appointment, and was told not possible.
Thank you. I’ll try when I can pack my patience. I did have business checking with them in the past, very recent one was personal that I closed a few months ago.
Tbh, I’m surprised the old offer lasted so long, especially after they started adding more restrictions.
same situation with me. I’ve asked to close my Truist Checking a 1-2 months ago, and I’ve immediately lose access to the online profile but I still see my Truist Visa Debit Card on paze (and I could still verified it!). Anyone know if they’re actually close close, or I need to call to confirm it?
Weird. That makes me think there might be a different procedure for closing accounts with a balance that might cause an immediate closure, vs. submitting a request to the back office to close.
Of course, in spite of the termination I am still getting emails from them. Its gonna be a long time before I try them again. They’re too much of a headache. Funny enough, I had a prior account with them that I had for some years before cancelling it over a year ago. So its not like I’d be flagged for churning them.
Hi, I opened on Friday I believe. They “terminated their relationship with me” on Monday I guess. I’d advise skipping initial funding to see if it holds. I’m trying to dispute the account funding now just to get that process underway since I’ve heard horror stories about this bank. Live and learn.
I already addressed this to another commenter above. Might as well get an EIN for your sole prop and avoid any issues.
How new are the accounts ,just curious
Well, tried to login today, and my account was locked. Called in and they said they decided to terminate my account (my personal and business accounts). Hope you have better luck than I did 😂
Would I be eligible for both this SUB as sol e prop and the one on the personal side using only SS #?
DP: Funding with Bank of America Custom Cash coded as loan for this and the business acct. Not a purchase. For the search engine: DP Datapoint boa bofa bank of america
Hi, it took MANY tries, so if you don’t mind trying many iterations then I guess it doesn’t matter. But generally I think the things I changed were making sure my email was the same as when I signed up, and I used my SSN instead of my EIN and used some variations of my name. Felt like luck really but it finally skipped over that and went through. YMMV
