The Fine Print
- Cash Bonus Terms and Conditions: (#1) open a new Free Checking, Loyalty Checking, Preferred Checking, or ThankU Checking account by November 1st, 2021, AND (#2) set up a recurring qualified direct deposit totaling $2,000 or more each month for the three consecutive full statement cycles immediately following the account opening date AND (#3) conduct at least 10 point-of-sale debit card transactions (ATM transactions excluded) each month for the three consecutive full statement cycles (months) immediately following the account opening date. If you satisfy all of the above requirements, you will receive a $250 cash bonus. Satisfy (#1) AND either (#2) or (#3), get a $100 cash bonus.

Our Verdict
They have offered as high as $600 in the past, but that required a huge deposit and was more difficult to keep the account fee free. I think this new bonus is better and worth doing if eligible. We will add it to the best checking bonus page.

I opened in branch on 9/29 and received the bonus email the next day. Subject “Important information about your new checking account” as uppityup stated.
There is language for an opening deposit requirement but was not given an option to put in funding information (was given a choice to select funding amount- defaulted at 25). Did anyone have this issue as well?

I opened mine today aiming for the $10000+ DD for $800 bonus. It was entirely online, through the promotion webpage. Nowhere in the application process was I asked to enter any promo code, which I didn’t like, but my browser history verified that I did use the promotion URL and the webpage I landed on upon account approval also contained the UPT8 code. Sent a secure message to confirm if I’m actually on board. Fingers crossed.

You can open with OOS license, I just did it in branch. So it should work with virtual meeting as well. Are we allowed to post referral here? It’s $100 for referrer and referree atm. I should have asked if it’s combinable. Hm..

This bank is weird to advertise the offer right on the front page of the website too, but then put in the terms in bold: “ Offer is available only to individuals who receive direct communication with the qualifying Promo Code from Atlantic Union Bank (AUB). Receiving this disclosure on its own does not entitle a customer to the offer.” I’m at the $600 tier right now with real DD’s and patiently waiting to see what happens. Hope it was worth the Chex hit, branch visit, and bother.

P2 was denied originally for identity verification. Tried to set up a virtual appointment with a local branch to get it rectified; the bank had no information about the appointment and it took 30 minutes for them to figure out how to get on a teams call. After all of that, we called back several days later and they wanted us to come in branch. They also tried to tell us P2 would not qualify since they had a membership (even though it had been over a year). Very inept and terrible branch. Made an in branch appointment with a different branch, process went smoothly, they specifically gave us paperwork on the bonus and we got signed up no problems. Took 30~ mins.

We don’t know this for a fact yet. Waiting on a DP with real direct deposit without a quick payout.
It seems like this $800 offer will not get paid as fast as previous smaller offers. Anyone has received this new offer yet?
I have this question as well. From previous comments once the bonus requirements were met the deposit happened shortly after. Maybe since this offer is tiered they will wait until the promo period ends, even if the deposits total the highest offer tier.
