Our Verdict
Seems like it might be available nationwide, I suspect if that gets hit hard the bonus won’t be available for long. For ideas on how to hit the debit card requirement click here. We will add this to our list of the best bank account bonuses.

Yes, they pull Chex. Pluv They are offering a $50 referral bonus via Extole as well, it should stack with this $150 bonus.
Did they pull Chex or just soft pull Experian?
Yes, my DP here
Chex pull?
Read the above “Approved in King County”
are you in-footprint?
Applied 9/29 Received call 10/3 to unfreeze Experian, soft pull Approved in King County CS rep specifically mentioned Welcome25 is attached to the account and if meeting the requirements, payment would be made 30 days after the 90 day period.
So if I happen to live in King County, but I didn’t receive the flyer, would I still qualify?
Me too! I was like ‘no thanks’
Just gonna leave it alone… only $150 and if they are this strict with current members, they will probably fight it hard against non-members.
I did the same as well and mentioned to the customer service rep having screen shots. Worth reporting to the cfpb?
This was the response I got from the customer service rep. this promotion was not listed on our webpage through links, it was an exclusive promotion for people that received a flyer in the mail in our neighborhoods, that provided the link. The churning website you found us on misled you. You do not qualify for the $150 opening bonus since you do not live in King County-WA. Seems like they are blaming DoC on this one. Worth submitting a complaint to the cfpb?
I’m dead that they used the wording “churning websites”…
“If you are still interested in joining without being eligible for the promotion, we are happy to welcome you to the credit union. However, churning websites were incorrect when they posted our promotion. It was only available by a mailer sent to new residents in King County with a link to a promotional page for those residents only.“
Denied OOS saying “This promotion is only available for King County, WA residents.”
Thanks for you interest in banking with Salal. Unfortunately, you do not qualify for the $150 opening bonus. This offer is only available to new residents that just moved to the King County area in Seattle, WA. (I applied Oos by selecting to join the Salal Foundation)
Pretty sure they’re talking about Salal checking accounts here
Applied before the King County requirement was added but subsequently declined due to it. Current member.
That’s for the 50+ Interest Checking account
That’s only for the 50+ INTEREST CHECKING account.
Called the CU and they said I was declined because I didn’t meet all membership qualifications despite getting the socure link
or paypal?
That’s what I saw… Should be added to The Fine Print area…
