Our Verdict

First time we’ve seen a business checking bonus from North Shore often we see a personal checking bonus of $400. Downside to this bonus is that it must be opened in branch. We will add this to our list of the best business checking bonuses.

DP: 2/25: Opened in branch with $100. I live in footprint. 3/3 – 3/11: Made 10 sub $1 debit card purchases 3/20: Deposited $2k 6/11: Still no bonus but past day 105 so I secure messaged them 6/12: Bonus posted If I recall, I had to message to get the personal bonus to post as well

Chris To tag someone, type @, then start typing their post name (e.g., RM for me). Then choose the person you want to tag if more than one appears. DoC doesn’t always put every last detail into the post at the top, and sometimes things get out of date. And with state restrictions, it’s common for the post title to say IL, for example, but then it turns out that IL really means only across the river from St. Louis, or Carbondale. You must always do your own research. My understanding based on the consumer post is that you have no chance if you are out of footprint. May be worth calling the branch to double check if anything has changed, but, yeah, I wouldn’t drive 90 minutes each way.

Which branch was it if you don’t mind to mention?

CH
Chris#2263482

Do you live near one of their branches?

CH
Chris#2263472

I’m not sure how to tag someone on here? Yeah, I’m not going to drive 90 minutes each way just to be told I can’t open the account. The reason why I asked for clarification is because there’s no language about footprint in the bonus terms and DOC only specifies availability in WI or IL, not specific counties like they did in the personal bonus page.

Chris My understanding, based on DPs on the consumer bonus thread, is that they will not open an account (or will shut you down) if you are not in footprint. Probably the safest way to proceed is to try opening in branch. That way, if they let you, you have a better chance of surviving review by the back office. P.S. Sorry I missed your post. Please tag if you would like an immediate response.

I have so many questions. Do you mean to say you switched a personal account you opened online to a business business account afterwards at some point? If so, how did you make the switch? Did you ask for assurance that they’ll honor the bonus beforehand?

CH
Chris#2254659

If you don’t live in these counties, are you precluded from the bonus?

CH
Chris#2253954

I noticed there isn’t language specifying you need to live in the counties their branches are located in, just open in-branch. On the DOC personal checking page for this bank there are posts mentioning a county requirement although the actual bank terms aren’t available anymore. Anyone has any insight on residency requirements for this business bonus?

be aware I would freeze your Chex once they pull it, I opened an account last year, they pulled Chex once in person, and then once a day later once they closed and reopened my account for no reason. I tried to reopen this year for this bonus and due to my “situation” last year, they refused to open another account with me. What a sly bank

GU
GuyWhoPeruses#2249884

Was able to open this account. I accidentally opened a personal account first, but even with Chex at 15/1 I still could open it. I opened it up virtually and was still able to get the Business Checking bonus. Did not try for credit card funding.

Recognize I am late coming to the party but I wanted to add my DP that I was able to apply in branch w/ Chex frozen.
