Our Verdict

Reader Jay was able to get this offer just by going into a branch and asking if they had any current promotions for opening a new account. Entirely possible it won’t be available in all/most branches, but feel free to share your data points in the comments below. Similar to a previous targeted bonus, with higher tiers available as well. The return gets worse as the bonus increases as unfortunately. Will stack with the Lunar new year promotion as well.

Newest-first by default, because “is it still working?” matters most.

She is on a vacation October 9 – 25. Jia-Ying

She’s not responding, I called and texted her.

I used to think that, but Citi has earned its way into my no-fly list. Never not been a massive headache. Opportunity cost too high. Even for $2,000.

SH
Shark#2430200

were you able to keep money in IMM and still get the bonus?

JE
Jeff#2430153

Seems like a crappy biz promo in comparison to US Bank, Truist, Bank of America, etc. Am I missing something?

ZE
zeroannualfee#2430113

I appreciate this. Thank you.

PE
Pepelats#2430101

I believe that you can have all the money in the money market account from the start, if you are OK with paying $15(?) monthly fee for the checking account. (You will need some amount in the checking account, or they can close it if it has a zero balance ) The following did work for me this summer: $5k in the checking account (to avoid the monthly fee), the rest in the money market account. zeroannualfee

Jay#2430042

I can open the online application link, guess I am eligible to open the account online, but when reading the terms, look like still need talk to account manager to add the promo? Anyone have experience opening the account online and get bonus without adding the promo by account manager? Thanks.

JI
Jia-Ying#2430003

Can you open account virtually? I’m in TX…….

JI
Jia-Ying#2430001

Is it possible to open the account in NYC branch? I live in TX and online says I am not eligible. Not too sure if flying to NYC to open the account works?

SO
sonia#2429990

these set of terms made me use up so much mental energy and I still couldn’t really decipher it 😅 tyvm!

JO
Jonny#2429986

It takes 4 months for the bonus to vest and post, so every 10 months

DS
DSP#2429985

This is not really available online because there’s no online applicable to open the account. You’re just submitting info for someone at Citi to basically set up an appointment with a banker at the branch.

ZE
zeroannualfee#2429946

Got an appointment for in branch tomorrow, sole prop in CA. Can someone please explain how the linked money market account works? Am i understanding it correctly that once we transfer the money into the business checking we can move it into the money market to accrue interest while waiting for the bonus or is it after we meet the bonus requirements?

SO
sonia#2429930

so from how I’m interpreting the terms, we can almost do this offer about twice a year…? Am I reading that correctly?

MA
Matthew#2429830

It is really tempting but I am worried Citi might lock me out of my account and want a code in a snail mail like they did with my checking account.

CH
Charles Mann#2429803

You’re not alone, I had to do the same.

CH
Charles Mann#2429797

That sounds EXACTLY like Citi.

MA
Matt#2429782

Damn not offered in my area. Could bypass in branch?

This Citibank Business Checking account up-to-$2000 bonus offer is actually available online, depending on your Zip Code. https://banking.citi.com/cbol/small-business/checking-offer It expires 10/6/26. I suspect it will be renewed.

Olympia#2425394

If they are both showing up on your login, you should be able to do an internal transfer. Hopefully you got it sorted out by now!

DA
Dave#2412628

pochari It should theoretically work, but if you have the option of not doing that, I would avoid it if at all possible such that they would not have that as an excuse down the line. My recommendation would be to deposit two separate checks inside of a branch, one into the checking and then a separate one into the money market, (that is how I have always done it and have never had problems).

PO
pochari#2412623

Can I transfer to checking first then transfer to money market? Just want make sure if “new money” rule applies here

AN

Typical Citibank. Opened in-branch, all of my personal information was correct on the application. Received letter in the mail about my newly-opened account, but the 2nd and 3rd digits are incorrect in my phone number. (Rest is correct.) Tried to sign up online, and can’t access my account because the 2FA codes are going to the wrong phone number. Is it the one from the letter? Nope. Only the last four digits are shown, but this time the 6th digit is incorrect. So I’ve got one account, and three different phone numbers. Thanks Citi.
