New Chase IHG Food & Beverage Credit Requires An Active Stay

Chase added a new IHG card IHG Premier Select and updated existing cards (with an increased annual fee). One of the benefits of this new lineup is a food & beverage credit:

• $300 ($75 per quarter) on the IHG Premier Select
• $100 ($25 per quarter) on the Chase IHG ONE Premier Business card & Chase IHG One Rewards Premier

The credit is now showing in app, unfortunately if you try to use the benefit when you don’t have an active stay with IHG you get the following error message:

This Reward can’t be used right now. You are either not checked in, your member number is not associated with your stay, or you are not staying at an eligible hotel.

This obviously makes the credit significantly more difficult to use and more difficult to justify the annual fee on these cards.
